A project close to Albrecht’s heart: carefully manufactured and tested washing columns

First, stainless steel sheets were rolled and joined using 25 longitudinal and 35 circular welds, employing the UP-121, WIG-141 and MAG-135 & 136 welding processes.
25 spigots and 44 fillet welds completed the structure. In total, we inspected the quality of the welds using 208 X-ray films. Specially fitted access hatches on each of the 11 levels will make future inspections straightforward. The surface was pickled and passivated to ensure long-term corrosion resistance. The final TÜV acceptance test confirmed compliance with all standards, pressure tests and even seismic resistance.
In future, the gas purification process will be carried out using counter-current spraying with a special washing solution. These measures, combined with the meticulous workmanship of our specialists, ensure the reliable and long-term operation of the column.
