Gas scrubber

Definition

A gas scrubber is a device that purifies gases, usually by passing them through a liquid which absorbs or reacts with the undesirable substances. This scrubbing often takes place with the gas flowing upwards, whilst the scrubbing liquid is sprayed downwards. A packed bed can significantly increase the wetted surface area and thus the scrubbing efficiency.
