Gas scrubbers

Process equipment for the purification of exhaust air

Two gas scrubbers made of carbon steel were manufactured for VSS-Umwelttechnik GmbH in Troisdorf; these are used in foundries to treat contaminated exhaust air.

Three-part design

Two carbon steel gas scrubbers were manufactured for VSS-Umwelttechnik GmbH in Troisdorf; these are used in foundries to clean contaminated exhaust air. These process equipment units, also known as wet separators or absorbers, remove metal and mineral dusts, phenolic resin vapours and smoke by bringing a gas stream into contact with a liquid stream.

Measuring 10 m in height and 3.6 m in diameter, and equipped with the associated stainless steel safety collection trays, the units posed particular challenges not only during transport but also during on-site assembly. A three-part design provided the right solution, enabling the individual elements to be assembled precisely on site thanks to plug-in connections and ensuring safe transport. Another key aspect in the manufacture of these gas scrubbers was ensuring that the large housings met tight roundness tolerances and that the specified schedule wasadheredto.

On this project, VSS was able to benefit from Albrecht’s high level of vertical integration, extensive expertise and comprehensive quality standards as a tank manufacturer.
